Robinson Khoury

French-Lebanese Robinson Khoury has built, from France, a career as a trombonist, composer and singer situated at the crossroads of contemporary jazz, Arab music and a compositional approach in which electronics play a significant role. His playing and compositions blend highly sung melodic lines, work with textures and open forms, with a constant attention to the voice. Robinson Khoury moves between personal projects and collaborations, performing on jazz stages as well as in more cross-disciplinary contexts, alongside artists such as Snarky Puppy, Émile Parisien, Michel Portal, the Metropole Orkest, the group Sarāb, Abdullah Miniawy, Lynn Adib and Natacha Atlas. Under his own name he develops several distinct formats: MŸA, a trio where improvisation, electronic atmospheres and Arabic references meet; Aria, a more intimate project centered on the voice with a sensibility close to baroque aesthetics; and Demi-Lune, a chamber ensemble that brings Arab repertoires into dialogue with composers such as Bach, Purcell, Arvo Pärt and Steve Reich. In 2024 Robinson Khoury received the Django Reinhardt Prize awarded by the Académie du Jazz.
