Caoilfhionn Rose
Born in Manchester in 1993 and hailing from the Didsbury neighborhood, Caoilfhionn Rose has since the early 2010s developed a writing style situated between folk, dream pop, soft psychedelia and discreet electronic textures, with a central emphasis on the voice, piano and guitar. After her first EP, Day Dreamer, released in 2013, Caoilfhionn Rose also appears alongside The Durutti Column on Chronicle XL in 2014, a landmark that sheds light on her place in a Manchester scene attentive to crossings between songwriting, ambient and jazz. Signed to Gondwana Records in 2018, she released Awaken that same year, then Truly in 2021, co-produced with Keir Stewart, before Constellation in 2024. Through these records, her language expands from an intimate psych-folk towards forms more open, where arrangements bring in more Jazz colors, contemplative atmospheres and a looser rhythm. Her collaborations with Slowly Rolling Camera, Svaneborg Kardyb or Kessoncoda extend this evolution, as does her presence on stages such as Manchester International Festival, Kendal Calling, Glastonbury or the EFG London Jazz Festival. Caoilfhionn Rose thus evolves at the junction of several circuits, between British songwriting, contemporary jazz and atmospheric pop.
