Loma
Formed in 2016 in Dripping Springs, Texas, Loma brings together Emily Cross, Jonathan Meiburg and Dan Duszynski in a trio born from the crossing of Cross Record and Shearwater paths after a shared tour initiated their collaboration. Loma’s music sits between indie rock, art rock and ambient pop, characterized by slow, precise songwriting, subtle electronic textures, field recordings and a distinctive focus on vocal timbre. Their debut album, Loma, was released in 2018 on Sub Pop and immediately established this simultaneously organic and abstract aesthetic. With Don’t Shy Away (2020), Loma broadened its palette by introducing more fluid arrangements, brass and elements close to free jazz, while the track “Homing” features Brian Eno. The trio then continued its evolution at a distance — members living between Texas, England and Germany — before releasing How Will I Live Without a Body? in 2024. Across these records, Loma develops a band sound in which composition, production and acoustic space are central, on the border between experimental song and atmospheric rock.
