From Fort Worth, Texas, trauma ray crafts a sound that sits between shoegaze, grunge, heavy alternative rock and touches of doom, featuring highly saturated guitars, pronounced dynamic shifts and a melodic tension that remains central. Active since the late 2010s, trauma ray first drew attention with early tracks like “Solstice” in 2018, before defining a more massive identity at the intersection of 1990s shoegaze heritage and a harsher approach borrowed from alternative metal and post-hardcore. The band brings together five musicians, with Jonathan Perez and Uriel Avila at the core of the songwriting, while other members such as Coleman Pruitt also contribute to the evolution of textures and arrangements. In 2024 trauma ray released the album Chameleon on Dais Records, a record that cements this formula of harmonic haze, heavy riffs and dark melodies. On stage, trauma ray moves across multiple networks and has shared dates with Deafheaven, Loathe and Touché Amoré. The EP Carnival, prepared in the context of a sustained run of tours in 2025, extends this trajectory with a more anxious atmosphere and an even more collective writing approach.
