Info
On 23 May 2026 at Union Chapel in London, The Handsome Family play a set drawn from more than three decades of songs. The duo of Brett and Rennie Sparks, formed in Chicago in 1993 and now based in Albuquerque, write narrative music that leans into alternative country, folk and the darker edges of Americana. Brett composes and sings in a low register; Rennie crafts lyrics steeped in folklore, gothic tales and true-life curiosities. Their discography runs from Odessa (1994) and Through the Trees (1998) to Singing Bones (2003), whose Far from Any Road later served as the opening theme of the first season of True Detective, then Last Days of Wonder (2006), Honey Moon (2009), Wilderness (2013), Unseen (2016) and Hollow (2023). On stage they perform as a core duo with occasional guests, keeping arrangements sparse to let the stories lead. They bring material from across this catalogue.
