Info

On 15 January 2027 at 229 London, the January Blues Festival brings together The Animals featuring founding drummer John Steel and Friends, plus Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band. DJ Snowboy hosts the night.

The Animals return with John Steel at the helm. In the 1960s the band pushed blues and folk standards into the charts with an organ-led bite, building a catalogue that marked the decade. The show leans on essentials like House of the Rising Sun, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, We’ve Gotta Get Out of This Place, Baby Let Me Take You Home, Bring It On Home To Me and It’s My Life, alongside R&B cuts from across their classic run.

Geno Washington, the Indiana-born vocalist who broke through in Britain with the Ram Jam Band, brings back the raw R&B and soul that fired up late‑60s dance floors. Saluted by Dexys Midnight Runners on the 1980 number one Geno, he keeps the call‑and‑response spark of those live recordings in focus with the band that carried his name.

Between sets, Snowboy digs into Chicago blues, rhythm and blues and blues rock for vinyl selections that frame the night.
