Info
Friday 26 June 2026, Inspiral Carpets bring their organ-led Manchester pulse to The Live Rooms in Chester. Formed in Oldham in the early 80s around guitarist Graham Lambert, the band carved out a place in the Madchester landscape where indie and alternative rock met garage grit and a psychedelic pop streak, driven by Clint Boon’s keys. Early EPs like Planecrash and Trainsurfing paved the way for a run of albums — Life, The Beast Inside, Revenge of the Goldfish and Devil Hopping — defined by concise hooks and sixties-tinged textures. After a split in the mid-90s, the group regrouped, reuniting with original singer Stephen Holt in 2011 and returning with a self-titled album in 2014.
On stage, they lean into that catalogue with direct, melodic songs, tight rhythms and the warm swirl of organ that shaped their sound, built for rooms where the groove can breathe. Support comes from Trampolene, setting the pace before the headliners take over.
