Yard Act

Yard Act brings its razor-edged post-punk to O2 Academy Leicester on 16 November 2026. Formed in Leeds around vocalist James Smith and bassist Ryan Needham, the band has carved out a direct, narrative-led approach that turns everyday scenes into tight, rhythmic vignettes. On stage, Smith’s spoken-sung delivery sits front and center, bouncing off basslines that drive the groove and guitars that slice through with a dry, melodic bite.

Since 2020, the quartet has built a following with songs that mix social observation, wit and a lean, percussive energy. Their debut album The Overload set the tone: stories told with clarity, small-town characters sketched in a few lines, and arrangements that keep the tension steady without overplaying the drama. Live, that economy translates into a set that moves fast, shifts gears cleanly and leaves space for the words to land.
