Info
On 22 May 2026 at SEC Armadillo in Glasgow, Midge Ure steps back into his hometown with a set shaped by decades of songs and sounds. From his early days with Slik and Rich Kids to the new romantic shift of Visage, he helped define a synth-forward pop language, co-writing Fade to Grey before steering Ultravox toward a melodic, tense new wave where electronics and guitars share the lead. Vienna, Hymn and Dancing with Tears in My Eyes remain touchstones of that era.
Alongside these chapters, Ure’s path crossed Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott, notably on Yellow Pearl, and unfolded in solo albums that lean into a more introspective writing: The Gift, Answers to Nothing, Pure, Breathe, Move Me, 10, Fragile and Orchestrated. On stage, his shows draw across eras, moving from sleek synth textures to rawer guitar lines, whether in full band, acoustic or Band Electronica formats, always carried by a clear sense of melody and craft.
Co-writer and producer of Do They Know It’s Christmas? and a key organiser behind Band Aid, Live Aid and Live 8, Midge Ure brings a body of work that connects pop invention with live energy, returning to Glasgow for a night that joins past and present at SEC Armadillo.
