Info
Back on stage after their 2024 return, The Maccabees head to O2 City Hall Newcastle on 7 July 2026. Formed in London in 2004, the band — Orlando Weeks, Felix White, Hugo White, Rupert Jarvis and drummer Sam Doyle — traced a line from taut, spiky indie to a broader, more atmospheric approach. Early singles X-Ray and Latchmere set the tone before four albums outlined their evolution: Colour It In (2007), Wall of Arms (2009), Given to the Wild (2012) and Marks to Prove It (2015). Given to the Wild earned a Mercury Prize nomination, and Pelican brought home an Ivor Novello.
On stage, that journey comes through in tight, guitar-led bursts opening into expansive, melodic passages. Expect a flow across their catalogue — brisk early cuts, moodier mid-period turns, widescreen later tracks — carried by Weeks’ distinctive voice and the band’s interplay. After a farewell run in 2017, their renewed chapter focuses on craft and dynamics, keeping the bite that first built their following while leaning into the depth they’ve grown into.
