Info
Nile Rodgers & CHIC bring their precision groove to Scarborough Open Air Theatre in Scarborough on 22 August 2026. Built around Rodgers’ tight guitar work and the basslines qu’il a façonnées avec Bernard Edwards, CHIC defined disco-funk with lean arrangements and direct hooks. Le Freak, I Want Your Love and Good Times anchor a repertoire that connects disco’s first wave with pop, hip-hop and house, porté par un sens de l’arrangement qui reste efficace sur scène.
Also on the bill, The Brand New Heavies revisit the acid jazz era that emerged from West London. Formed by Simon Bartholomew and Andrew Levy, the group blends supple rhythms, punchy bass and soulful lead vocals, refined from their 1990 debut through Brother Sister to TBNH. Today the project centres on Bartholomew, Levy and singer Angela Ricci, for a live sound rooted in warm, organic funk.
Opening, James Emmanuel brings a Nigerian-Scottish soul grounded in gospel. Raised singing in church and based in Edinburgh, he writes from lived experience, with an open, expressive voice that draws equally on classic soul, gospel and contemporary R&B.
