Dan Whitlam

Dan Whitlam will be at La Bellevilloise on 25 October 2026. A poet and MC from south London, he moves between spoken word, alternative rap and performed poetry, with a supple phrasing and a soulful voice. On stage he tells stories of ordinary lives and the tensions of coming of age, carried by understated grooves and a storytelling sense that stays close to the text.

His single “Butterfly,” released in 2025, reveals a jazzier side: counterpoint saxophones, muted drums, and a relaxed flow. You can hear Quinn Oulton’s warm touch on the saxophone, weaving a motif like a late‑night conversation. The mix of jazz and spoken word asserts itself without effects—simple and direct—creating an intimate atmosphere.

With Strangers (Again), his debut album released in February 2026, Dan continues an introspective and socially aware thread, between storytelling and restrained hip‑hop rhythms. On stage, the spoken word leads, the jazz textures breathe, and the pieces settle without excess, leaving space for the writing and the voice.
