I Am Roze

Born in Louisiana and based in the United Kingdom, I Am Roze develops contemporary pop-soul nourished by gospel, R&B and confessional songwriting. Her public career begins after Hurricane Laura, which destroyed her home in 2020, in a period of great precarity during which online excerpts draw the attention of Fred again.., who samples her voice on two tracks from his album Actual Life 2, released in 2021. I Am Roze then pursues a path that is still brief but already visible, between notable live performances in the UK and collaborations with producers from British pop and soul. Her music rests on an ample, forward vocal and on spare arrangements where piano, discreet electronic textures and melodic lines inherited from R&B intersect. In 2024, I Am Roze appears in a COLORS session, a format that highlights the precision of her interpretation and the frontal dimension of her lyrics. Her discography remains concise at this stage, notably the project Social Commentary, released in 2025. Through these early releases, I Am Roze builds a repertoire centered on the intimate, the consequences of uprooting and the search for personal balance, with an approach that links chanson, modern soul and alternative pop.
