Melanie Martinez - Hades: The Sacrifice

Melanie Martinez brings her multilayered worlds of imagery and song to the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg with Hades: The Sacrifice on 26 September 2026. The Astoria-born, New York–raised artist came to public attention in 2012 on The Voice and has since developed a pop idiom that moves between dark pop, electropop and art pop. After the single “Dollhouse” and the eponymous EP (2014), she fashioned with Cry Baby (2015) a universe in which nursery rhymes, electronic textures, pop hooks and hip‑hop and R&B inflections carry stories about childhood, social norms and inner fractures.

She continued this narrative thread with K-12 (2019), an album accompanied by a film, and with the EP After School (2020), at times more personal, before Portals (2023) introduced more organic, rockier and more experimental hues—without giving up her appetite for characters and visually dense worlds. On stage, Martinez interweaves music, makeup, costume and theatrical storytelling into a clearly conceived pop set that makes her narratives tangible. Hades: The Sacrifice builds on this and continues her themes in a new light, bearing her distinctive signature at the intersection of song, story and image.
