Info
On 12 February 2027 at the Alhambra (Paris), Joan As Police Woman celebrates the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Real Life (2006), with a trio concert that places this record at the centre of the set. Behind this stage name is New Yorker Joan Wasser, a classically trained violinist and singer-songwriter whose intimate songwriting blends soul, indie pop and touches of jazz. She will perform Real Life in its entirety, then draw from her whole discography: standout tracks, fan-requested songs, rarities, rearranged covers and a few unexpected detours. Her warm voice and the spare arrangements that have shaped her style are present throughout, from the austerity of her early work to the fuller textures heard on To Survive, The Deep Field, The Classic and Damned Devotion, including her minimalist reinterpretations on Cover Two and her explorations with Tony Allen and Dave Okumu on The Solution Is Restless. The set is conceived as both a return to her roots and a journey through her career, where the song remains front and centre and the shared experience of listening connects past and present.
