Dry Cleaning

Dry Cleaning play Melkweg in Amsterdam on 11 April 2026. The South London quartet — Florence Shaw (spoken-word vocals), Tom Dowse (guitar), Lewis Maynard (bass) and Nick Buxton (drums) — build their post‑punk from minimal elements: repetitive rhythms, angular guitars and a calm, flat vocal that puts the lyrics front and center. Shaw draws on loose sentences, conversations, snippets of adverts and online messages; live, those observations slot into a tight groove that slowly gets under your skin.

After the EPs Sweet Princess and Boundary Road Snacks and Drinks (2019) came the albums New Long Leg (2021) and Stumpwork (2022), recorded with John Parish. The band stretches song structures, experiments with texture and lets melodic motifs return subtly. On stage those elements come together: bass and drums lock in the pattern, guitar cuts lines through the mix, and the voice remains at a distance, adding punctuation. Expect a set drawing on both albums and new material in the same vein, with a focus on cadence, detail and the story between the lines.
