Info

Jens Lekman will perform on March 10, 2026 at La Bellevilloise in Paris. A wedding singer as much by accident as by vocation, he has, since his 2004 song "If You Ever Need a Stranger (To Sing at Your Wedding)", received requests from strangers to sing at their nuptials. For more than twenty years he has closely observed the role of love songs in our lives and has shaped a repertoire that tells of relationships—their impulses and moments of doubt.

In 2020, he conceived, together with novelist David Levithan, a hybrid project, Songs for Other People’s Weddings. Initially the album was meant to include the songs from the weddings referenced in the book; as the work progressed, Lekman began to imagine what happens between the chapters. Book and album intertwine while each follows its own trajectory: the book provides the structure, the album explores what happens behind the scenes. Stories slip from one medium to the other. There you hear what we sing when we sing about love: euphoria, doubt, feeling out of sync, tenderness, conflict, playfulness, gratitude, ingratitude, desire, belonging, question and answer. On stage, Jens Lekman gathers these stories into a concert that approaches intimacy on a human scale.
