Formed in Birmingham in 1989, Ocean Colour Scene ontoured the line between britpop, blues rock and a distinctly mod soul feel. On stage, Simon Fowler’s grainy, clear voice sits over Steve Cradock’s crisp, ringing guitars, with Oscar Harrison anchoring the swing and punch. Expect a set that moves from chiming mid-tempo grooves to tighter, more direct numbers, drawing on the 90s peak of Moseley Shoals and Marchin’ Already as well as later albums. The band keep songs lean and tuneful, favouring hooks, clean lines and an unfussy drive that still hits live.
Opening the night, The Enemy return to the stage with their Coventry-forged indie rock, shaped by alternative and punk edges. The trio write short, tense tracks about city life and everyday grit, built for crowds to pick up fast. After their 2022 reunion, they’ve honed a set that stacks urgent riffs with plainspoken choruses, tapping into the energy of their early years.
