Midland

Formed in 2014 in Dripping Springs, Texas, Midland brings together singer Mark Wystrach, bassist and video director Cameron Duddy, and guitarist Jess Carson as a country trio defined by a neotraditional aesthetic. Signed to Big Machine Records in Nashville, Midland first made an impact on the American country scene with a self‑titled EP in 2016 and then with the album On the Rocks in 2017. The single “Drinkin’ Problem” established the band’s sound, blending honky‑tonk, 1970s West Coast country and ballads driven by vocal harmonies. Midland continued in that vein with Let It Roll in 2019, documented its live work on Live From the Palomino in 2020, and showcased their initial sessions in Mexico on The Sonic Ranch in 2021. In 2022 they developed a slightly broader, more orchestrated sound on The Last Resort: Greetings From, an extension of an EP released the year before. In studio and on stage, Midland regularly works with Nashville songwriters and producers such as Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, cultivating a country sound where guitars, pedal steel and tight backing vocals support stories of bars, roads and romantic relationships.
