Clara La San

Raised in the English countryside, Clara La San trained in classical piano from an early age before turning to songwriting and production, blending alternative R&B with intimate pop. She was noticed in 2014 with the track “Let You Go,” released on SoundCloud via the Gang Fatale label, and built an initial online audience with “In This Darkness,” a song that circulated widely and was brought back into focus in 2023. At the same time she appeared on the UK electronic scene alongside Scratcha DVA in 2015 and on MssngNo’s EP Fones in 2016, before releasing the mixtape Good Mourning in 2017 — a release that was withdrawn and then reissued in 2024. Clara La San then developed an aesthetic mixing hazy R&B, early-2000s references and synthetic melodies, collaborating with the duo Bicep on “Saku,” “X” and “Water” between 2020 and 2022. She returned to the forefront in 2024 with the single “Don’t Worry About It” on her CLS Music label, partnered with AWAL, contributed that year to a Bryson Tiller album and in June 2024 released her debut studio album Made Mistakes — entirely written and produced by her — which extends the nocturnal, introspective side of her R&B.
