Arcángel

Born in New York in 1985 to Dominican parents and raised from an early age in Puerto Rico, Arcángel — real name Austin Agustín Santos — is part of the Caribbean urban scene between reggaeton and Latin trap. First noticed in the mid-2000s as one half of the duo Arcángel & De La Ghetto, he established himself on reggaeton compilation albums before launching a solo trajectory with the mixtape “La Maravilla” in 2008, which cemented his stage name in the Latin landscape. Arcángel went on to release the album “Sentimiento, Elegancia & Maldad” in 2013, followed by releases including “Los Favoritos” (2015), “Ares” (2018), “Historias de un Capricornio” (2019), “Los Favoritos 2” (2020), “Los Favoritos 2.5” (2021) and “Sr. Santos” (2022), alternating between personal projects and collaborative formats. His writing blends street narratives, nightlife and emotional themes, supported by a melodically rapped vocal style that sits between classic reggaeton, R&B influences and trap. Active across Puerto Rico, the United States and Latin America, Arcángel frequently appears as a featured artist with the contemporary reggaeton and trap scene — from his early recordings with De La Ghetto to collaborations with artists like Bad Bunny — consolidating a career rooted in the evolution of the Latin urban sound.
