Nengo Flow
Born Edwin Laureano Rosa Vázquez Ortiz in San Juan and raised in Bayamón, Ñengo Flow entered the Puerto Rican urban scene at the crossroads of reggaeton, Latin hip‑hop and, later, Latin trap. He appeared in the mid‑2000s on landmark genre compilations, notably Los Anormales (2004) and Sangre Nueva (2005), the same year Flow Callejero was released. Ñengo Flow’s style rests on a deep voice, compact phrasing and direct writing, producing a tense street reggaeton often associated with the malianteo aesthetic, while remaining open to more melodic structures depending on the track. From 2011 he organized much of his career around the Real G 4 Life series, continued with Real G 4 Life Part 2 in 2012 and Real G 4 Life Vol. 3 in 2017. At the same time he multiplied collaborations with Latin scene artists such as Daddy Yankee, Jory, Bad Bunny, Anuel AA and Myke Towers. In 2015 he released Los Reyes del Rap with Los G4, a project oriented more toward rap, followed by The Goat in 2020. Ñengo Flow thus moves between Puerto Rican reggaeton of the 2000s generation and more recent forms of Latin urban music.
