Jack Kays
Born in 1998 and from Cincinnati, Ohio, Jack Kays develops a project that sits between indie rock, hip-hop, pop-punk and emo, with tracks that blend melodic singing, rap phrasing and nervous guitars. Active since the 2010s, he began by releasing his music in the SoundCloud rap sphere before gradually expanding his writing toward a rockier, more alternative format. Jack Kays came into broader prominence in 2020 with Morbid Mind, followed by the album Mixed Emotions in 2021 and the Voice Memos EPs the same year, My Favorite Nightmares in 2021, conceived with Travis Barker, Cessation in 2022 and Caffeine in 2023. His repertoire moves along a direct, often taut line, where catchy choruses, pop-punk textures, emo energy and themes related to mental health, isolation or dependencies intersect. Having spent some time in Washington, D.C., Jack Kays also built a live presence with a band setup, his brother Austin handling bass. In 2024, he releases Deadbeat! - Disc 1 and Deadbeat! - Disc 2, extending a trajectory that links confessional writing, American alternative culture and contemporary production.
