Born Avrey Freeman in Pierce City, Missouri, honestav works in a space where alternative rock, indie rock and hip-hop intersect in songs driven by singing, melodic rap and guitars with melancholic accents. Active since his teens, he began by releasing music on SoundCloud before expanding to streaming platforms in the early 2020s. Based in the Kansas City area, honestav gained new momentum in 2024 when “I’d Rather Overdose” circulated widely after being shared on TikTok, marking a turning point in his career. That same year he joined the Here’s Your Flowers tour as an opening act for Mod Sun and lovelytheband, and on November 8, 2024 he released the EP hara-kiri, which laid the foundations of his world between frank confession and contemporary pop‑rock formats. In 2025 he issued an extension with hara-kiri (Deluxe), continued performing — including at Austin City Limits — and also released the track “Wasted”, produced by Take a Daytrip.
