Lovejoy

Formed in Brighton in 2021, Lovejoy brings together William Gold, Joe Goldsmith, Ash Kabosu and Mark Boardman around a British indie rock sound infused with pop-punk accents, with taut guitars, direct melodies and songwriting that blends irony, everyday tensions and disenchanted sentimental narratives. The band quickly emerged with the EP Are You Alright? in 2021, followed the same year by Pebble Brain, then Wake Up & It’s Over in 2023, three releases that establish a format of short, dynamic songs, highly focused on melodic efficiency. Lovejoy also tackled a cover with Knee Deep at ATP by Los Campesinos!, as well as an acoustic reinterpretation of their beginnings on the EP From Studio 4, released in 2023 under the name Anvil Cat. Initially noticed in online circuits before anchoring themselves onstage, Lovejoy has played numerous shows in the UK, Europe and North America, with appearances at festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Rock Werchter, Osheaga or Lollapalooza in 2023. After a hiatus in 2024, the band resumed activity and released its debut album, One Simple Trick, in 2025.
