Peter McPoland
Buoyed by intimate, pop-leaning songwriting, Peter McPoland has established himself as an American singer-songwriter navigating between indie pop, alternative rock, and folk-tinged ballads. Initially active as a solo artist with tracks released online in the late 2010s, he grew his audience on social media, where his guitar-led songs—focused on voice and storytelling—circulated widely. The breakout of “Romeo & Juliet” in the early 2020s marked a turning point and paved the way for venue tours across the United States. Settled into a space where straightforward pop hooks coexist with deeply personal lyrics, McPoland released the EP “Slow Down” in 2022, which cemented a fuller, band-driven sound, followed by the 2023 album “Piggy,” a studio extension of this aesthetic combining rock energy, singable melodies, and themes of youth, family, and vulnerability. On stage as in the studio, he favors a song format that remains accessible while allowing for narrative structures and a strongly vocal emphasis.
