Good Kid

Based in Toronto, Canada, Good Kid brings together five musicians with backgrounds in computer science: Nick Frosst (vocals), Jon Kereliuk (drums), Michael Kozakov (bass), and David Wood and Jacob Tsafatinos (guitars). From its earliest tracks, Good Kid carved out a melodic, nervy rock that blends J‑rock‑leaning riffs, pop‑punk energy, and an indie‑rock sensibility, driven by brisk choruses, clean guitars, and a forthright voice. Good Kid’s lyrics focus on everyday situations, friendships, the doubts of early adulthood, and a culture shaped by video games, Japanese animation, and the internet. The band drew attention with a self‑titled debut EP in 2018, followed by Good Kid 2 in 2020 and Good Kid 3 in 2022—series of short, propulsive songs that define an aesthetic rooted in group dynamics, tempo shifts, and prominent bass lines. On stage, Good Kid favors participatory shows and maintains regular contact with an international community built largely online. In 2024, the debut album Can We Hang Out Sometime? was recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy‑winning producer John Congleton, known for his work with St. Vincent, Wallows, and Lana Del Rey, expanding the band’s palette toward more nuanced material while preserving the melodic drive and immediacy that define Good Kid’s world.
