Cavetown

Through the Cavetown project, Robin Skinner has explored a personal, delicate songwriting style since the mid-2010s, blending bedroom pop, slow folk and minimal indie rock. Born in Oxford and raised in Cambridge, Cavetown first shared home-recorded songs on YouTube and Bandcamp, alternating stripped-down covers with original compositions centered on voice, guitar and ukulele. A self-released debut album, simply titled “Cavetown”, appeared in 2015, followed by releases including “Lemon Boy” (2018), “Sleepyhead” (2020) and “Worm Food” (2022), which extend a lo-fi, melodic and melancholic sound marked by lyrics about identity, mental health and emotional relationships. Cavetown occasionally collaborates with indie-pop artists from the same scene, such as mxmtoon and Chloe Moriondo, and has moved some arrangements toward denser productions while retaining a handcrafted aesthetic. On stage, Cavetown performs solo or with a small band, in a format that stays close to the spirit of the home recordings.
