Priori

Behind the name Priori, Quebec musician Francis Latreille has forged a career that sits between production, DJ sets and live performance, at the crossroads of techno, ambient and a house sound with hypnotic contours. Across EPs, albums and collaborations released notably on NAFF Recordings, Jump Source and Temple, Priori has developed a precise electronic language built from supple rhythms, clear melodic motifs and detailed textures, where the sense of movement matters as much as the tension of the dancefloor. His music often progresses in stages, favouring minimal forms, diffuse atmospheres and contrasts between organic material and abstraction. Alongside his releases as Priori, Francis Latreille works as a mixing engineer and has collaborated in that capacity with artists such as James K, Bambii, Maara and Roza Terenzi. As cofounder of NAFF Recordings and Jump Source, Priori thus occupies an active role in the exchanges between Quebec’s electronic scene, studio production and DJ culture.
