Sofiane
Born in 1986 in Saint-Denis, Seine-Saint-Denis, rapper Sofiane Zermani—known as Sofiane or Fianso—belongs to the strand of francophone rap rooted in the realities of working‑class neighborhoods. After initial tracks released in the mid‑2000s, Sofiane put out the project La vie de cauchemar in 2011 and gradually refined a direct style marked by dense phrasing, street narratives and a pronounced social perspective. His growing exposure came via a series of online freestyles that established his presence in the French rap scene before the releases of Bandit saleté (2017) and Affranchis (2018), which blend trap, hardcore rap and more melodic formats. In 2018 he also launched the collective project 93 Empire, bringing together various voices from Seine‑Saint‑Denis around a crew-oriented rap aesthetic. The 2021 album La direction extends this writing approach—focused on vocal performance, autobiographical storytelling and everyday observation—while Sofiane simultaneously develops an acting career in film and television, further broadening his profile beyond the rap stage.
