Blackberry Smoke
Based in Atlanta, Georgia since the early 2000s, Blackberry Smoke has developed a sound that blends southern rock, country rock and blues rock with hard‑rock accents and a clear taste for the long breaths of jam culture. Centered on singer‑guitarist Charlie Starr, guitarist Paul Jackson, bassist Richard Turner and keyboardist Brandon Still, the band first made a mark with Bad Luck Ain’t No Crime in 2003 and Little Piece of Dixie in 2009, before widening its audience with The Whippoorwill in 2012. The group continued that trajectory with Holding All the Roses in 2015, produced by Brendan O’Brien, Like an Arrow in 2016, featuring Gregg Allman, Find a Light in 2018, You Hear Georgia in 2021, produced by Dave Cobb with Jamey Johnson and Warren Haynes, and Be Right Here in 2024. On stage, Blackberry Smoke moves between American rock and country circuits and European venues, while keeping a songwriting approach focused on guitars, harmonies and a Southern U.S. imagination. Co‑founder and drummer Brit Turner died in 2024; since late 2023 Kent Aberle has handled drumming on tour, and Benji Shanks has been part of the live lineup since 2018.
