The Revivalists
Formed in New Orleans in 2007, The Revivalists brought together an expanded lineup around David Shaw and Zack Feinberg whose sound blends alternative rock, roots rock, soul, funk and folk influences, with a prominent place for saxophone, keyboards and pedal steel. Initially rooted in the city's club circuit, notably around Tipitina’s, The Revivalists built their trajectory through intensive touring across the United States before releasing the EP The Revivalists in 2008 and their debut album Vital Signs in 2010. With City of Sound, first released independently and reissued in 2014, the band honed a more melodic songwriting approach and broadened its range between rock, pop and soul; the album was produced by Ben Ellman of Galactic, who also worked on Men Amongst Mountains in 2015. That record marked a step up in scale for The Revivalists, notably with the single Wish I Knew You. Subsequent releases confirmed a more direct direction without severing ties to the group's onstage energy, on Take Good Care in 2018 and Pour It Out into the Night in 2023. Over the years The Revivalists have developed an identity where song craft, the legacy of American rock and the instincts of New Orleans' live scene coexist.
