Houndmouth
Formed in 2011 in New Albany, Indiana, Houndmouth initially developed between the local Indiana scene and the Louisville, Kentucky scene, with a repertoire spanning americana, alt-country, folk rock and indie rock. Houndmouth’s sound rests on roots guitars, understated keyboards, loose collective playing and vocal harmonies that give their songs a blend of country, rock and soul. After a self-titled EP released in 2012, Houndmouth drew attention at SXSW the same year and subsequently signed to Rough Trade. The band released From the Hills Below the City in 2013, followed by Little Neon Limelight in 2015, which includes the track “Sedona.” Originally a quartet, Houndmouth experienced a lineup change with Katie Toupin’s departure prior to the release of Golden Age in 2018. Since then Houndmouth has continued in a tighter formation centered around Matt Myers, Caleb Hickman and Zac Anderson. In 2021 Houndmouth released Good for You, written during the pandemic period and recorded in New Albany, extending an American aesthetic where everyday storytelling, road rock and folk textures intersect.
