JP Saxe

Born in Toronto, JP Saxe has, since the mid-2010s, developed an introspective strain of pop that blends piano-and-voice ballads, light R&B and contemporary production focused on melody and lyrics. The Canadian singer-songwriter first released the EP Both Can Be True: Part 1 in 2018, before gaining wider recognition with "If the World Was Ending" (2019), recorded with Julia Michaels and a turning point in his career. That period led to the EP Hold It Together in 2020, where Saxe honed a direct, sentimental and often autobiographical songcraft, situated between adult pop, hushed soul and acoustic songwriting. His debut album Dangerous Levels of Introspection arrived in 2021 and extended this confessional vein with spare arrangements and a marked attention to vocal nuance. In 2023 he released his second album, A Grey Area, continuing a melancholic, narrative pop approach while occasionally collaborating with other artists and writers, notably John Mayer on "I Don’t Miss You." Active on North American pop stages and in intimate touring formats, JP Saxe belongs to a generation of songwriters for whom vulnerability is central.
