ML Buch

Born in 1987 in Copenhagen, ML Buch, the stage name of Marie Louise Buch, develops music situated between art pop, dream pop, soft rock and electropop, with a strong taste for airy textures, clean guitars and vocal melodies with very smooth contours. Trained in composition at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen after studying visual culture, ML Buch released the EP Fleshy in 2017 and then refined a songwriting approach in which the songs converse with a precise sound design that is both organic and digital. Her first album, Skinned, was released in 2020 and presents a more synthetic approach, threaded with hazy electronic pop and arrangements that blend intimacy and distance. With Suntub in 2023, ML Buch moved her language toward a more open ensemble, where the guitars, the softness of the singing and a kind of cottony rock take on greater prominence, without abandoning her experimental sensibility. In 2024 ML Buch toured notably alongside Astrid Sonne before continuing on European and North American stages. An instrumental extension, Suntub extras, was released in 2024.
