Car Culture

Born in New Jersey and based in Queens, New York, Daniel Fisher has been carving out an electronic trajectory since the early 2010s under several aliases, including Physical Therapy and Car Culture, with releases on labels such as Hippos in Tanks and his own Allergy Season. Whereas Physical Therapy explores a wide spectrum of club music and hybrid forms, Car Culture channels a more inward-facing strand built around ambient, downtempo, folktronica and sound collages where blurred textures, processed vocals, understated soul melodies and found sounds intertwine. This approach is also evident in the Remissions mix series, conceived more as a narrative montage than a simple sequence of tracks. Alongside his productions, Fisher maintains an active DJ practice and hosts a long-running show on NTS Radio that reflects his taste for unconventional stylistic juxtapositions. Under the Car Culture name he released the album Dead Rock in 2021 and the EP Nothingburger in 2025 on NAFF Recordings, extending a body of work where sensitive songwriting, contemplative slowness and the electronic culture of the New York scene converse.
