Acopia
Formed in 2018 in Naarm/Melbourne, Acopia brings together Kate Durman, Lachlan McGeehan and Morgan Wright as a trio exploring the territory between electronic pop, dream pop and ambient atmospheres. Acopia’s music moves at slow tempos, with a marked focus on space and repetition; the voices blend into synthetic pads and discreet rhythmic motifs to establish an introspective mood rather than a frontal one. The group released a debut album, “Chances”, in 2022 on Melbourne label Companion, followed by a self-released, eponymous LP in 2023 that extended this aesthetic toward a more melodic yet still minimalist songwriting. In September 2025 Acopia issued “Blush Response” on London label Scenic Route, consolidating a studio practice centred on nuance, restraint and gradual transitions. On stage Acopia performs as a trio in often restrained configurations, playing clubs and independent venues across the UK, Europe and Australia, with appearances at festivals including Wide Awake in London, Les Nuits Botanique in Brussels and Golden Plains in Australia. These tours have seen Acopia share bills with artists such as Bar Italia, Tirzah and Raisa K, placing the band within a network of musicians who approach pop from an intimate, experimental angle without abandoning song form.
