RIP Swirl

Based in Berlin, Luka Seifert, under the name RIP Swirl, develops a project at the crossroads of shoegaze, dream pop, trip-hop and foggy electronics nourished by club culture. A multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ, RIP Swirl shapes a music where guitars remain central but treated in diffuse textures, slow or broken rhythms and nocturnal atmospheres that bring his tracks closer to melancholic pop as to more immersive forms drawn from the electronic underground. His trajectory becomes clearer through self-released outputs, then with the Blurry album in 2022, which lays the foundations for this vaporous and contrasted aesthetics. RIP Swirl then continues this work with Perfectly Blue, released in 2024, an album that broadens his palette further by incorporating several invited voices, among them Tanukichan, error de a.s.o., Maria Somerville and Winter. Parallel to his productions, Luka Seifert remains tied to Berlin club scenes, an anchor reflected in the construction of his tracks, often between off-kilter song, sonic landscapes and restrained pulsation. RIP Swirl thus moves into a territory where oblique pop, guitars drowned in reverb and introspective electronics meet.
