Chanel Beads

Based in New York, Chanel Beads is the project of Shane Lavers, an American musician whose writing sits between dream pop, hypnagogic pop and indie pop with lo-fi contours. His work assembles fragile melodies, deliberately diffuse textures and a song approach where the voice, often subdued, blends with hazy and unstable arrangements. After a first EP, Zut Alors in 2018, Chanel Beads releases several singles from 2020, including Strobe Light Two / Layup, then Let’s Go Out Tonight, Ef / Shining Armor and True Altruism / Ache in 2022, which gradually sketch an aesthetic made of deformed pop, sound collages and songs balancing intimacy and abstraction. Chanel Beads develops this language on the album Your Day Will Come, released in 2024, preceded notably by Police Scanner, Idea June and Embarrassed Dog. The project is also tied to the work of Maya McGrory, alias Colle, with whom Shane Lavers collaborates closely. In this frame, Chanel Beads circulates on indie and experimental scenes where songwriting, ambient and deconstructed pop forms cross.
