Tokischa

Born in 1996 in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and raised in the neighborhoods of Santo Domingo Este, Tokischa has developed a sound rooted in Dominican dembow, Latin trap and reggaeton. Spotted by producer Raymi Paulus during a photography project, she began recording in the late 2010s and circulated her first tracks within the local urban scene, between independent studios and Santo Domingo clubs. Her career reached an international scale from 2021 through a series of collaborations—notably with Rosalía on “Linda” and “La combi versace,” with J Balvin on “Perra,” and with Madonna on “Hung Up on Tokischa”—which established her in the global pop and urban landscape. Tokischa’s discography is built mainly around singles and features, combining fast rhythms, blunt language, references to everyday life in working‑class neighborhoods and a strong presence of Dominican slang. On stage she translates this direct, confrontational aesthetic into performances designed for clubs, festivals and large venues devoted to Latin American urban music.
