Sarah McCoy

Born in the United States and shaped by the New Orleans scene, Sarah McCoy has developed a style at the crossroads of blues, jazz, soul and gospel, driven by a frontal piano approach and a deep, gritty voice often bordering on spoken word. She first attracted attention in a very stripped-down format, alone at the piano, with songs that blend blues intensity, cabaret rhythms and folk tension. This initial chapter of her career took shape on Blood Siren (2019), an album centered on that direct, organic approach. Since then, Sarah McCoy has evolved her aesthetic toward more elaborated arrangements, where the songwriting retains its confessional dimension while incorporating electronic textures and a more contemporary production. That shift is at the heart of High Priestess, released in 2023, produced with Renaud Letang at the instigation of Chilly Gonzales. Between clubs, festivals and circuits connected to both jazz and contemporary music, Sarah McCoy occupies a singular space at the border of piano recital, American song and a dark, soul-tinged pop.
