Meryl

Born in 1995 in Le Lamentin, Martinique, Meryl crafts a world at the crossroads of rap, dancehall, shatta and urban pop, constantly switching between Creole and French. Initially working behind the scenes, she drew attention as a songwriter and melodist for various artists on the French-speaking rap and R&B scene before launching her own project. Her solo rise accelerated from 2019 with the single “Béni,” which established her vocal identity and her taste for highly rhythmic instrumentals. The release of the EP Ozoror in 2020 confirmed this hybrid path, blending Caribbean energy, structures akin to French rap and sung refrains. After relocating to mainland France, Meryl expanded her collaborations with rappers and producers from both the Antilles and the Paris scene, while strengthening her live presence. In 2024, the album Caviar extends this work with a finely honed sound focused on the voice, flow variations and writing that alternates between intimate narratives, snapshots of everyday island life and references to contemporary urban cultures, establishing Meryl as an artist able to move fluidly between clubs, studios and festivals.
