DJ Kawest

Born Kenny Genevieve in 1994, DJ Kawest is a French producer, composer and DJ from a Guadeloupean family, whose path has been built at the crossroads of Caribbean, Afro and urban musics. Trained very early in percussion, he develops a rhythmic approach that nourishes a sound centered on kompa, dancehall, afrobeat and influences from zouk or rap, in an aesthetic of fusion designed for the club as well as for sung formats. DJ Kawest emerges more widely in 2021 with When Haiti Meets Angola, a track relayed on social networks and followed the same year by When Haiti Meets Angola, Pt 2, before signing with Juston Records. His discography subsequently takes the form of a series of singles and collaborations with artists from Francophone, Caribbean and African scenes, among which Mr. Vegas, Maureen, Joé Dwèt Filé, Bramsito, Innoss'B, Emma'a, Gaz Mawete or Aya Nakamura. In 2024, DJ Kawest releases the album Hybride, which reflects this circulation between several dancing and melodic traditions. On stage, DJ Kawest alternates formats of DJ set and proposals more open to bridges between live and club culture, with notable dates in Paris, notably at La Cigale in 2024 then at the Olympia in 2025.
