half•alive

Formed in Long Beach, California, half•alive initially developed as a trio around Josh Taylor, J. Tyler Johnson, and Brett Kramer, before continuing as a duo. The project surfaced in 2016 and released their first EP, 3, in 2017, where a blend of indie pop, alternative pop, electropop, and rock with funk, soul, and R&B influences already took shape. half•alive broadened its dimension in 2018 with the single 'Still Feel', whose visual and choreographic identity accompanies a rhythmic, edgy, and melodic writing. The band then asserted a transversal approach, conceived as much for the studio as for the stage, with a strong emphasis on movement, image, and collective dynamics. This trajectory continued with the 2019 album Now, Not Yet, followed by the 2020 EP In Florescence, which revisits several tracks in an orchestral setting. In 2022, Conditions of a Punk further widens the band's spectrum with more introspective songs, between electronic pop, alternative rock, and leaner textures. half•alive has also circulated on North American, British, and European stages, on tours as well as at festivals, sharing some dates with Twenty One Pilots. In 2024, the duo released Persona, followed by Persona (Extended) in 2025, confirming a writing style that combines pop choruses, precise rhythmic construction, and a constant focus on staging.
