Benny Sings

Under the name Benny Sings, Dutch musician and producer Tim van Berkestijn has been crafting since the early 2000s a gentle pop infused with soul, R&B and jazz accents, marked by bright arrangements and a taste for pared-down melodies. Born in Dordrecht and active on the Amsterdam scene, Benny Sings came to attention with the album "Champagne People" in 2003, followed by "I Love You" (2005) and "Benny… At Home" (2007), establishing a world between bedroom pop, blue-eyed soul and highly melodic songwriting. After "Art" (2011) and "Studio" (2015), he explored a more instrumental approach with "Beat Tape" (2018), before returning to a pop inspired by Japanese culture and refined funk on "City Pop" (2019). The albums "Music" (2021) and "Young Hearts" (2023) continue this intimate songwriting, often focused on relationships and everyday life, while expanding collaborations, notably with Rex Orange County and Kenny Beats. Alongside his own records, Benny Sings works as a songwriter and producer for other artists and regularly performs in Europe, the United States and Japan, consolidating an international presence in the independent pop field.
