Xentrix

Formed in Preston, England, under the name Sweet Vengeance before adopting the name Xentrix in 1988, the band was part of the British thrash metal wave of the late 1980s. Its style rests on fast and tight riffs, a dry rhythm section and direct vocal lines, with songwriting that progressively incorporates more technical arrangements and inflections close to progressive metal. Xentrix released Shattered Existence in 1989 and For Whose Advantage? in 1990, two albums that established them on the European metal scene, notably through tours with Sabbat, Skyclad, Testament, Slayer, Sepultura or Tankard. With Kin in 1992, the group broadened its formula by working on more complex structures, before releasing Scourge in 1996 in a reworked configuration. Separated in 1997, Xentrix reformed once in 2005 for a few concerts, then steadily revived its activity from 2013. This new period gave birth to Bury the Pain in 2019, the band's first studio album in more than twenty years, then Seven Words in 2022. Today, Xentrix operates as a quartet and continues to keep a precise, nerve-wracking thrash metal alive, deeply anchored in the British tradition of the genre.
