Tribulation

Born in Arvika, Sweden, Tribulation formed in 2001 under the name Hazard before adopting its current name in 2004, when the band moved away from San Francisco Bay–influenced thrash metal toward a darker death metal. After early demos and the Putrid Rebirth EP (2006), Tribulation released The Horror in 2009, a debut album still rooted in brutal, old-school styles and nourished by horror literature imagery. With The Formulas of Death (2013), the sound broadened, allowing more space for atmosphere, melodic lines and a more progressive songwriting approach. This evolution was confirmed on The Children of the Night (2015), Down Below (2018) and Where the Gloom Becomes Sound (2021), where Tribulation blended death metal, heavy metal and gothic shades into a nocturnal, theatrical aesthetic. Onstage, the band has been part of the European metal circuit since its beginnings, progressing from underground opening slots to larger bills. Sub Rosa in Æternum, released in 2024, continues this path, further emphasizing the intersection of metal violence, dark melodies and occult ambience.
