Year Of The Goat

Formed in Sweden around the turn of the 2010s, Year Of The Goat is part of the occult rock movement, blending heavy rock, doom touches and progressive influences inherited from the 1970s. Centered on singer and guitarist Thomas Sabbathi, the band crafts multi-guitar compositions built on melodic riffs, worked harmonies and a pronounced use of esoteric and religious themes. Year Of The Goat drew attention with the EP “Lucem Ferre” (2011), then consolidated its presence on the European scene with the debut album “Angels’ Necropolis” (2012), which established an aesthetic mixing dark atmospheres and catchy choruses. In 2015 the band broadened its scope with “The Unspeakable”, where arrangement work and tempo choices underline a taste for longer track formats. “Novis Orbis Terrarum Ordinis”, released in 2019, continues this exploration of slowly constructed rock—alternating slow passages, instrumental developments and a foregrounding of clean vocals—and confirms Year Of The Goat’s anchoring in a network of retro-leaning, esoteric metal and rock scenes.
