Abbath

Founded in Bergen, Norway, by singer-guitarist Olve “Abbath” Eikemo after his departure from Immortal in 2015, Abbath develops a form of black metal rooted in the Norwegian tradition while incorporating rhythms from classic heavy metal and more rock-influenced touches. Originally conceived as a band with King ov Hell on bass and Creature on drums, Abbath later evolved around a core centered on Eikemo, supported by various Scandinavian and European musicians depending on tours and recordings. The first studio album, simply titled 'Abbath', was released in 2016 and established a sound combining fast riffs, cutting melodies and dark atmospheres; it was followed by 'Outstrider' in 2019 and 'Dread Reaver' in 2022, which continued this more direct and melodic approach to black metal. On stage, Abbath favors a tight band lineup, prominent guitar work, a characteristic raspy vocal delivery and a stage aesthetic derived from the Norwegian black metal scene.
