Thierry Pastor
Born in Oran in 1960 and trained at the Conservatory of Lyon, where he studied classical piano extensively, Thierry Pastor placed his career within French pop of the 1980s, writing pop songs marked by soul, funk and post‑disco colours. Before launching a solo career, he worked as a pianist and arranger for Nicolas Peyrac from 1978, then recorded the 45 rpm single Le Coup de folie in 1981, a track that quickly established him in the French popular music scene. A serious car accident in 1983 kept him off stage for more than two years, while his recording activity continued. The album Sur des musiques noires, released in 1985, extended this danceable pop‑soul vein, followed by songs such as Équateur and T’en vas pas. His discography includes the albums Le Coup de folie (1982), Avec elle (1988), Des histoires (1992) and Passé composé (1993), together with the compilation Coup de folie (1999) and Best of Thierry Pastor (2024). From the late 2000s onward, Thierry Pastor has regularly reappeared on tours devoted to 1980s repertoire, notably RFM Party 80, Stars 80 and Best of 80.
